Carolyn Siekmann (Teacher)

Carolyn Siekmann, a retired teacher in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District, died Jan. 6, 2000, in Manor Care Nursing Home, Venice, Fla., after a lengthy illness. She was 88.
Born Carolyn Christiansen in Newark, she moved to Kenmore with her family when she was 3 years old. A graduate of Kenmore High School, she also graduated from Albany State Teachers College with a degree in secondary education.  Mrs. Siekmann began her teaching career in 1933 at her alma mater, Kenmore High School, which later became Kenmore West High School. She also taught at Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and Herbert Hoover Junior High as well as Kenmore West. She retired in 1968 after 35 years of teaching.
Mrs. Siekmann and her husband, Theodore J., were married in 1939. A retired Ken-Ton math and science teacher, he died in 1985.
Mrs. Siekmann traveled extensively throughout Europe with the University of Buffalo Alumni Association, of which her late husband was director of alumni relations.
She was a member of Kenmore Presbyterian Church before she moved to Venice in 1977. She was a member of the Rotary Women in Venice and several bridge clubs. She also was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service was held Jan. 9.
Survivors include a son, Theodore J. Jr. of Williamsville; a brother, Ralph Christiansen of Manitowoc, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
