William Weis

William E. Weis 71. A 5-year resident of The Villages, Florida formerly of Grand Island, New York passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Bill was born November 20, 1946 to Edwin & Grace Weis. He graduated from Kenmore West High School and served in the United States Air Force. A 40-year resident of Grand Island, NY, Bill was a lifetime member of the Grand Island Volunteer Fire Company. As President, Bill coordinated the extensive rebuilding and expansion of the current fire headquarters, which was brought about after years of planning and a major fundraising drive. He worked for the Grand Island Highway Department until retiring in 2011. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy A. Weis (nee Rutkowski); mother Grace Weis; sons Jonathan (Kimberly) Weis and Jason (Maureen) Weis; daughter Jennifer (Jeffrey) Loder; grandchildren Marlee Lake, Elle Weis, Brandon Loder, Anthony Weis and Ava Weis; great-granddaughters Blair and Bryce. Online condolences may be offered at www.forestlawnocala.com. A celebration of Bill's life will be held in July on Grand Island. Bill will be laid to rest in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be offered to the Grand Island Volunteer Fire Company www.grandislandfire.us or Roswell Park Cancer Institute www.roswellpark.org
