Joe was the big lefty at first base for our 1965 Championship baseball team. He was a quiet guy, yet lead by example. As one of the co-captains of that squad it saddens me that our full starting line up will not be present.
When he was a freshman at Kenmore Junior High School, he was a starting end in football, a starting forward in basketball, and the starting first baseman in baseball. He was the only person who started in the three major sports at our Junior High School. He also played successfully in Buffalo city wide and Erie County wide tournaments in pool and table tennis. He was so efficient and effective in every sport he particiaped in. He was quiet and kept to himself, but I can tell you, in the relatively rough "Town", nobody messed with Joe.
